Bryant Gumbel announced Tuesday morning that he had cancer surgery two months ago to remove a malignant tumor on his lung.

Gumbel, 61, was guest-hosting “Live! with Regis and Kelly,” filling in for Regis Philbin, who recently underwent successful hip replacement surgery.

Pink Glove Dance Video Spreads Breast Cancer Awareness

It all started when a medical supply created a new line of hospital gloves — in pink. “We thought that seeing health care workers wear pink gloves would remind people to talk about breast cancer and that some of the money from the gloves could be used to pay for mammograms for women that couldn’t afford it,” said Sue MacInnes of Medline Industries Inc., the company that created the gloves.

Dennis Hopper was diagnosed with prostate cancer and is currently undergoing treatment at the University of Southern California, according to his manager Sam Maydew. “We’re hoping for the best,” he said.

The 73 year-old was hospitalized with flulike symptoms and released the next day last month. Dennis, who just recently finished filming the second season of ‘Crash’, cancelled all travel and promotional plans to focus on his treatment.
