Robert Halderman who works on “48 Hours” a true-crime show was trying to obtain $2 million through extortion from well-known celebrity David Letterman. He was forcing Letterman to admit that he has intimate relationships with female members of his team, during a surprising and dramatic speech in front of his viewers.
During the live recording of his program “Late Night Show” he said “this whole thing has been quite scary”. He managed to keep the seriousness of the situation from his live audience by missing his jokes, while telling the true story of his extortion.
CBS said Robert Halderman is no longer the part of their network and has been suspended, although authorities have not released the suspects name, a person with investigation knowledge said the person who has been arrested under extortion charges is Robert Halderman.
According to the latest reports a true-crime show producer named Joe Halderman was part of that team who was nominated for an Emmy Award back in 2008. It has also been reported that two phone numbers listed under the name “Halderman” are disconnected, whereas a message was left on the third phone number, which was not returned until late in the Thursday evening.
After hearing such news from the host himself the audience was in shock, since the 62-year-old “Later Night Show” host had married his long time girlfriend Regina Lasko just few months back.
Moreover, Letterman said that the situation caused extreme terror because there is something insidious about the entire event.
